Nick Jonas will be following in Daniel Radcliffe’s footsteps as Broadway’s newest J. Pierrepont Finch on January 24, and that’s not the only thing the two teen heartthrobs have in common. According to The Advocate, the new How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying star has considered going nude onstage, just like Radcliffe did in Broadway’s 2008 revival of Equus.
“I love theater and I understand the difference between acting and who you are as a person,” said Jonas. “I don’t know that it’s something I would’ve done in the end, but I definitely would’ve considered it. You have to be open to everything.”
Not only is the Jonas Brothers frontman open to nudity, but he’s also a supporter of gay marriage. “Everyone has the right to love and be loved, and that’s the position I take,” said Jonas.
His stance on the gay marriage issue is sure to get him a barrage of new gay fans, and Jonas couldn’t be happier. “My brothers and I totally look forward to meeting [gay fans], because they really respond to our style, and it’s cool to see how our influence has impacted what they’re wearing,” Jonas said. “They also give really good gifts at our meet-and-greets—hats, scarves and other things. They always have good taste.”
Although Jonas confirmed that he is not gay himself, he notes that his prior experience on Broadway shows has made him feel comfortable with the gay community. “My first exposure to Broadway was probably my first exposure to gay people, and it was great,” he said. “It was exciting to be around likeminded people who were also passionate about music and performing.” Welcome back to Broadway, Nick!
